Adult Basic Education
Are you ready to complete your grade 12? Are you tired of being looked over for advancement because of your lack of education? Are you wanting to move on to a post-secondary program? The Adult Basic Education 12 program is designed to obtain your high school Diploma equivalency.
The Adult basic Education 12 program is nine months in length and SIIT does not do upgrading at this time. To complete the program students must pass a minimum of 7 credits. Courses offered allow you to have flexibility in choosing courses that match your future career plans.
Admission Requirements and Deadlines
- Complete CAAT Test
- At least 18 years old and out of school for one year
- Not have completed Grade 12
- Biology 30
- English Language Arts A30 and B30
- Life Transitions 30
- Mathematics Foundations 20F/30F
- Native Studies 30
- Enviro 20
- Visual Arts (In Saskatoon Only)
Tuition and Fees
There is no cost to Adult Basic Education, it is a fully funded program for students who are accepted.
SIIT Adult 12 courses will certify you to apply to any post-secondary or college programs. Please check for academic average requirements of any program that you are interested in.
The completion of Adult Basic Education 12 will qualify you for any job that requires a Grade 12 education. This can include almost any entry level position in a variety of industries including:
- Industrial work
- Service providers
- Commercial operations
This course is mostly classroom style learning. Class days are a full six hours.
SIIT requires full attendance for completion and PTA requires a 90% attendance for payment.
SIIT is currently not legislated to accept International Students. You must be a Canadian resident to apply.
English Language Benchmark
To be admitted into this program you must be able to understand and communicate in English (Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment of six – CLB6).
Strong preference is given to those who are status First Nation but programs are open to anyone.
