Program Description

Have you been out of school for a long period of time? Would you like to finish Grade 12, but feel like you need to refresh foundational skills before you start? Enrolling in ABE Bridging to Adult 12 might be the next step in achieving your goals.

The ABE Bridging to Adult 12 program is a 5 month preparation program designed to provide adult learners with a foundation in math, communications, and other skills needed for success in a regular Adult 12 program. It is offered at SIIT campuses in Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, and in various community locations.

Completing ABE Bridging to Adult 12 at SIIT will prepare you to enter Adult 12, or pursue employment and some apprenticeship opportunities.

*SIIT does not currently offer upgrading.

  • Complete an academic assessment
  • At least 18 years old and out of school for one year
  • Have not completed Grade 12

Acceptance Policy

Strong preference is given to applicants who are Status First Nations, but SIIT programs are open to anyone.

English Language Benchmark and International Students

SIIT not currently legislated to accept International Students. You must be a Canadian/ Permanent Resident to apply.

To be admitted into this program you must be able to understand and communicate in English (Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment of six – CLB6).

Tuition and Fees

There is no cost to attend Adult Basic Education programs at SIIT. Once accepted, program staff will help you to secure Education and Training Incentive (ETI).

Delivery Method

This program involves mostly classroom learning for six hours per day.

Attendance Policy

Regular attendance is essential for academic success. Each program has specific attendance requirements that must be adhered to in order to graduate.

If you have been approved for Education and Training Incentive (ETI), you must maintain a 90% attendance to remain eligible for funding.

Graduation

50% in all prep courses is required to complete this program. If you complete ABE Bridging to Adult 12 program, you will receive a Recognition of Achievement and an SIIT Transcript.

Completing ABE Bridging to Adult 12 will prepare you to enter Adult Basic Education 12 or pursue employment and apprenticeship opportunities.
