Greg Yuel Fellowship

The pawâcikêwikamik: Innovation Collective at SIIT is partnering with PIC Investments Group to launch the Greg Yuel Fellowship. This pilot program will host up to fifteen indigenous entrepreneurs from Saskatchewan as Fellows. The goal of the fellowship is to improve the indigenous economy and transform the innovation ecosystem by supporting these entrepreneurs in achieving their goals.

Details

The Fellows will participate in an eight-month cohort-based program designed to strengthen their businesses and build their capacity for growth and scalability. Throughout the fellowship, the fellows will have access to a range of resources and support systems, including land-based practices, mentorship, specialists, networking opportunities, and curated professional development sessions. These tools will help the fellows overcome individual challenges and requirements. The fellows will have the opportunity to define what growing and scaling their business means to them and how the resources mentioned above can support their journey.

Timeline

Applications Submitted – September 15th

  • Please complete the application by September 15th, including the submission of additional required documents (Resume, Saskatchewan Health Card, and Business Plan).

Selection & Admission – September 30th

  • Selection into the Fellowship will be completed by a panel who will review your completed application. We will be accepting 20 Fellows for a Selection Event. The Selection Event will be approximately 4 – 5 hours and is the final step for admission into the Fellowship – the 20 Fellows will participate in a workshop, solve a group challenge, and present their solutions to a panel of judges. After the selection event, we will be narrowing it down to the final 15 Fellows before September 30th!

Fellowship Cohort – October till June 2025

  • The 15 Fellows will be required to attend a 4-Day Retreat to start off the Fellowship! The Retreat is an all-inclusive, expense free opportunity for the Fellows to start building on their milestones and goals of the Fellowship. Retreat location – TBD.
  • The Fellowship Cohort begins in October, the cohort is customizable to the needs of the Fellow! Throughout the eight months, Fellows will have opportunities of land-based practices, mentorship, specialists, networking opportunities, and curated professional development sessions.

Selection Criteria

  • Entrepreneurial Spirit: We are looking for self-starters who seek to solve problems in creative and innovative ways! We are looking for indigenous entrepreneurs who have an entrepreneurial spirit and mindset.

    “An entrepreneurial mindset is a set of skills that enable people to identify and make the most of opportunities, overcome and learn from setbacks and succeed in a variety of settings” (Greenhouse Labs – St Paul’s University).

  • Ambition: We are looking for indigenous people who have big dreams and display that they are ready to take the next step on their journey to grow and scale their business!
  • Community Oriented: We are looking for people who strive to be contributing members to their communities. As indigenous peoples, community is foundational – we want entrepreneurs that are forward thinkers and support their communities.

Fees

To participate in the program, there is a nominal fee of $2,000, which can be paid in two installments. This fee includes access to a wide range of resources, including networking opportunities, expert mentorship, and exclusive events. By joining our community, you will have the chance to collaborate with other successful entrepreneurs and gain valuable insights into the latest trends and best practices in your industry.

  • Installment 1: $500.00 – Due upon program acceptance.
  • Installment 2: $1500.00 – Due in January 2025.
