SIIT Job Coaches can help you with your career and finding employment! They create a bridge between employers looking for workers, and clients or students looking for employment. They are specialists and knowledgeable within various industries and can help you find success!

There are eight SIIT Career Centres located throughout the province, each with their own specializations within the various industries. Through the various programs offered at SIIT, you can receive skills and apprenticeship training within several fields.

Job Coaches can help you:

Clients Seeking Employment
  • Providing confidential one-on-one coaching and personal consultation
  • Creating short and long term career and training goals and a plan to achieve them
  • Helping clients discover and overcome personal barriers/challenges
  • Providing real-life practical experience to bridge clients into jobs
  • Assisting clients in preparing for interviews and developing resumes/cover letters
  • Administering assessments to determine skills, experience, aptitudes, interest, etc.
Employers Seeking Workers
  • Identify employers’ recruitment needs
  • Coordinate with employers to place SIIT Career Centre clients in jobs
  • Participate in community labour force initiatives
  • Collaborate with clients and employers to bridge employment barriers/challenges and to support employers to retain new workers
  • Work with employers to coordinate interviews, placements, and on-site visits
  • Provide follow-up support to employers, regular check-ins and provide the necessary support to the client to be successful
