Program Description

This 15-hour online course is designed for early childhood education professionals seeking to integrate Indigenous perspectives into their teaching practices. Students will learn through interactive activities and case studies to gain practical insights into creating culturally responsive and land-based learning experiences for young children through completion of this Microcredential.

Admission Requirements

Acceptance Policy

Strong preference is given to applicants who are Status First Nations, but SIIT programs are open to anyone.

English Language Benchmark

SIIT is not currently legislated to accept International Students. You must be a Canadian/ Permanent Resident to apply.

To be admitted into this program you must be able to understand and communicate in English (Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment of six – CLB6).

What to Expect

Length of Program

15 hours of online learning at the student’s own pace. Students will have four months to complete the course.

Program Delivery

This program is delivered online, asynchronously, without an instructor. Students are expected to work through the course on their own.

Evaluation

At the end of each module, a quiz is required to progress to the next module. Additionally, there is a comprehensive quiz at the end of the course. To pass this course, students must achieve 80% on each quiz. There are unlimited attempts at each quiz.

Graduation Document

Students who successfully complete this Microcredential will be issued a digital badge through MyCreds.
