Program Description

The Indigenous Sustainable Housing for Leaders program offers the knowledge needed to lead in sustainable building practices. The program begins with an in-depth study of green building principles for Canadian homes, focusing on the use of innovative materials and techniques to create eco-friendly, healthier living environments.

Participants will have the opportunity to study the construction and retrofitting of net-zero homes, addressing both modern structures and the challenges of heritage buildings. Participants will then explore the 2020 Energy Codes, gaining insights into their implications for construction and renovation to ensure compliance and optimal performance. The final component involves developing strategies for deep energy retrofitting, aimed at enhancing occupant health and significantly reducing environmental impact.

This program is ideal for community leaders, housing managers, project managers, leaders, chiefs, and council in communities. This microcredential program empowers participants to work in sustainable construction, Indigenous housing management, community development and environmental consultancy to drive the future of green and efficient housing.
