Program Description

The Virtual Health Hub Assistant (VHHA) applied certificate is a foundational 18-week course that provides learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully support the Virtual Health Hub functionality as the community level.

Academic Requirements

  • Grade 10 or Mature Entry.
  • If applying under Mature Entry applicant must take the CAAT test and score a minimum grade 10 in Reading Comprehension and Problem Solving.
  • Applicant must provide a recent Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable
    Sector Search. Accepted applicants will have CPIC fees reimbursed.
  • Applicant must provide a current Immunization Record.

Acceptance Policy

SIIT provides preferential admission to applicants who are of First Nation’s ancestry; however, SIIT programs are open to everyone, and all application will be considered. SIIT relies on section 56 of The Saskatchewan Human Rights Code, 2018 to provide preference to applicants who are of First Nations’ ancestry.

Permanent Resident Applicant Information

SIIT is not currently legislated to accept International Students. You must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident to apply.
For Permanent Resident applications we will request the following documentation:

  • Copy of Permanent Resident Card
  • International Qualifications Assessment (IQAS) International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) | Alberta.ca Your high school/secondary education credentials must be assessed through this service.
  • Canadian Language Benchmark – English Assessment of CLB 7. We will accept either International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - Academic or Canadian English Language Proficiency Program (CELPIP) – General.

What to Expect

Length of Program

Minimum 20 weeks or 270 hours.

Program Delivery

  • Hybrid Delivery – Instructor Led through online platform Brightspace
  • One week in-person introduction in Saskatoon
  • Online instruction 3 times per week, evening classes
  • One week in-person wrapping up/graduation

Evaluation

Students will be evaluated through both summative and formative assessments. These assessments will take place for each of the 7 required courses, including Practicum components. VHHA Learners must achieve a minimum of 60% in each theory course, and a satisfactory/pass for practicum courses. An overall program average of 70% must be achieved.

Graduation Document

Successful students will receive an Applied Certificate.

  • HCOMM 100 – 45 Hours – Transfer into Health Care Aid
