Program Description
Have you been out of school for a long period of time? Would you like to finish Grade 10, but feel like you need to refresh foundational skills before you start? Enrolling in ABE Bridging to Adult 10 might be the next step in achieving your goals.
Bridging to Adult 10 is a non-credit program that consists of three courses that help learners improve their math and literacy skills that are needed to be successful in an Adult 10 program. Successful learners may be eligible for entry into the Adult 10 program. SIIT offers programs in Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, and various community locations.
The Bridging to Adult 10 program will be taught for a minimum of 12 weeks to four months in length. All students must attend full-time studies.
*SIIT does not currently offer upgrading.

Admission Requirements
- The applicant must be at least 18 years old and out of school for one year.
- The applicant must not have a pre-existing Grade 10 or Grade 12 completion.
- The applicant will need to take an Entrance Assessment.
Acceptance Policy
SIIT provides preferential admission to applicants who are of First Nation’s ancestry; however, SIIT programs are open to everyone, and all application will be considered. SIIT relies on section 56 of The Saskatchewan Human Rights Code, 2018 to provide preference to applicants who are of First Nations’ ancestry.
Permanent Resident Applicant Information
SIIT is not currently legislated to accept International Students. You must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident to apply.
For Permanent Resident applications we will request the following documentation:
- Copy of Permanent Resident Card
- International Qualifications Assessment (IQAS) International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) | Alberta.ca Your high school/secondary education credentials must be assessed through this service.
- Canadian Language Benchmark – English Assessment of CLB 7. We will accept either International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - Academic or Canadian English Language Proficiency Program (CELPIP) – General.

Tuition and Fees
There is no cost to attend Adult Basic Education programs at SIIT. Once accepted, program staff will help you to secure Education and Training Incentive (ETI).
What to Expect
Day to Day
Delivery Method
This course is mostly classroom learning for six hours per day.
Attendance Policy
Regular attendance is essential for academic success. Each program has specific attendance requirements that must be adhered to in order to graduate.
If you have been approved for Education and Training Incentive (ETI), you must maintain a 90% attendance to remain eligible for funding.
Graduation
50% in all prep courses is required to complete this program. If you complete ABE Bridging to Adult 10 program, you will receive a Recognition of Achievement and an SIIT Transcript.
Career & Post-Secondary Opportunities
Completing ABE Bridging to Adult 10 will prepare you to enter Adult Basic Education 10 or pursue employment and apprenticeship opportunities.
