Introduction to Scaffolding
NOC-7271
Program Description
As the construction industry continues to expand, the opportunities for Indigenous people to be gainfully employed in the trades continue to increase. There is an extreme shortage of skilled scaffold workers in the scaffolding trade in Saskatchewan. This program is designed to give the students enough knowledge and experience to improve their employability in the scaffold industry. The program covers the safety requirements of the construction sites, safe use of tools and equipment, trade terminology and assembly procedures of various types of scaffolding. This will include hands-on practice with different scaffolding systems with emphasis on industry expectations such as mobility, importance of safety, and professionalism. Safety training will include personal safety, OH&S regulations and job site safety. On successful completion of the program, students will be well equipped with skills applicable to a broad variety of careers, and life essential skills.
